Martin Howse operates within the fields of discourse, speculative hardware (environmental data in open physical systems), code (an examination of layers of abstraction), free software and the situational (performances and interventions). Heavily improvised, playing with the collapse of massed, barely functional salvaged equipment and software systems made manifest in sound/noise and image, Howse presents a complex, process-driven constructivist performance; the symphonic rise of the attempt to piece together fugal systematics is played out against the noise of collapse and machine crash at the deserted border of control. Howse has performed and collaborated worldwide using custom software and hardware modules for audible/visible code/noise generation. inteviewed by Ondřej Vavrečka and Michal Kindernay in Gallery ŠKOLSKA 28, Prague, November 2012. for the project Imagospehere.

Programmer, writer, performer and explorer Martin Howse founded the ap project in 1998 to implement a truly artistic operating system (OS) in its most expanded sense. ap projects have included the ap02 distributed code-creation software developed in collaboration with _v2_labs, Rotterdam and an environmental computational work, entitled ap0201 installed deep within the Mojave desert which received first prize within the Art & Artificial Life competition VIDA 8.0, 2005. In 2005 ap were responsible for the crash seminar and performances in London (ICA and Shoreditch Town Hall). In 2006 Martin Howse co-founded xxxxx, organising one large-scale conference and concert series in London (xxxxx) and publishing the acclaimed xxxxx [reader]. From 2007 to 2009 he has hosted a regular workshop, micro-residency and salon series in Berlin, most recently under the banner of _____-micro-research. More recently micro-research has been established as a mobile platform for psychogeophysical research with ongoing projects in London, Peenemuende, Kiruna and Yekaterinburg. For the last ten years he has collaborated on numerous open-laboratory style projects and performed, published, lectured and exhibited worldwide.

Thomas Sanchez and Gilberto Castro : AETHER - Interactive Audiovisual Installation

An initial test of the installation Aether. Aether is a collaboration between mexican artists Thomas Sanchez and Gilberto Castro. A series of studies in geometric symmetry, dynamic particles and interactivity on a large format multitouch screens. It explores techniques of manipulating a digital sculpt throughout the interaction of the users. It is inspired by the works of Memo Akten, Quayola as well as similarly inspired modernist cubist works such Picasso´s “Seated Nude″ and the classical painter Poussin.



The audience are able to alter the geometry and the physics to transform the representation of objects into different viewpoints. The source for the study are various Nebula images taken from the the Hubble Space Telescope. Those images are exposed into a abstract form which is possible to manipulate in real time with the touch of the fingers, to provide insight between Audiovisual Design and Multitouch technologies.

Teo Park - May The Force Be With You



Created by Seoul based artist Teo Park, “May the Force be With You” is a kinetic installation that invites visitors to interact with an interactive water tank. The tank uses gravitational force driven by the position of the viewer’s hand movement. Kinect hand gesture data is sent to the servo motors controlling the mechanical movement of the water tank. The real-time image using logitech c920 camera is recorded and projects back into the space, reflecting the changes in real time. Created using Processing and Arduino.

Artist Turns Ball Pit Into An Insane Mechanical Playground



Suck the Balls! The aptly-titled pneumatic playground Roy has designed for the Goethe Institute, Krakow, makes us yearn back to our childhoods. Featuring a massive ball pit surrounded by 80 meters of pneumatic tubing, it's exactly the right kind of useless that produces the sort of documentation video you'll remember for the rest of your day:



From Roy's website: The installation consists of a ball pit and an 80 meters long pneumatic tube transport, which fills up the entire historic staircase of the Potocki Palace in Kraków. When entering the ball pit, the cabin’s lights switch on and the ball suction action starts! The visitor can operate the peculiar machinery with a suction spout. When sucking the balls which are surrounding his feet, the balls race through the transparent pipe system, creating a visually stunning scene. The journey of the little balls ends in a container above the ball pit, waiting for the climax of the operation: When the visitor pulls the release handle of the container, a fountain of balls splashes down onto his head in a joyful shower. A helmet is provided to keep the hairstyle in excellent condition throughout the whole experience. Below, Roy's accomplice, Günter Schulz, beta tests Suck the Balls!

A laser-mapped / video-mapped / light installation by Todd Moyer at Create:Fixate - I Art You - February 15th, 2014. Nine laser beam threads are drawn from nine 3D projection-mapped spools of electronic fabric, bringing together an old material technology from the industrial revolution with the new non-material technology of photon manipulation. Each spool is mapped with non-repeating textile patterns generated by a computer program in real-time.
