This is one of my favorite books ever. It is a book created by biologist and philosopher Ernst Haeckel and lithographer Adolf Giltsch at the end of last century. Ernst Haeckel made several expedition to West India, mostly Cuba, where he drew the animal and plant life. Back in Germany Adolf Giltsch illustrated the drawings, using lithography. The final product is amazing and I can not imagine the amount of energy and time they spent on this project. The entire Kunstformen Der Natur can be found here: |
